About Us
What happens when a sports fanatic and a technology fanatic get together? Fantasy5Live! Fantasy5Live is an Irish-owned real-time fantasy sports game for fans of GAA, rugby and soccer. From working with live scores for GAA for SportsNewsIreland, we saw a gap in the Irish market for a real-time fantasy sports product. As a country, Ireland is sports mad, however the GAA, RaboDirect PRO12, and Irish internationals for both rugby and soccer are not catered for in the real-time fantasy sports market. Likewise, a lot of Irish follow the Premier League and follow the fortunes of teams and Irish players abroad so we felt a need to offer an Irish product that could attract a worldwide audience.
With so much emigration and friends in far off lands we also wanted to make it a fun forum for friends to exchange banter about their favourite players and home teams – for example, while watching the All-Ireland finals your friend in Australia could be in a pub in Sydney watching the match in the middle of the night, and you can see how well or how poorly his choice of players are doing while they go up and down our leaderboards in real-time – a great excuse to chat with them and have a bit of banter about their choice!
We also wanted something that didn't involve a lot of time and effort like so many other fantasy leagues. The beauty of the game is that you only need to follow your players for the duration of a match and not a whole season! So you know pretty quickly how wise your choice of players was and can start thinking about your choice for the next game! See the rules section for more details.
